Prayer of St Francis (Peace)

Lord, make me

messenger of your peace

and let me carry

love where hatred rages;

reconciliation where strife prevails;

unity where there is division;

faith where doubts plague;

truth where error reigns;

hope, where despondency creeps in;

joy where sorrow is depressing;

light where darkness overwhelms.

Teacher, make me desire

to comfort others rather than to be comforted myself;

to understand others, not to be understood myself;

to love others rather than to be loved myself,

for he who gives, receives,

he who forgives is forgiven,

he who dies is born to live forever.
